Dana 30 aussie locker installed

I finsihed up my aussie locker install into my front axle last weekend. It was pretty easy to install, I had to completely tear down my front axle but it went smoothly. I did think that the instructions sucked though.

I took it for a drive and so far am very impressed with it. First I just drove it on the street with the hubs locked in to see how much noise it makes when it isn’t in 4wd. Well it makes no noise! I cant hear it clicking at all unless I do a tight circle with the window rolled down and my head out the window. Even then I can just barely hear it.

As far as four high I drove at a fairly high speed on some unplowed portions of a parking lot and played with the gas to try and get the front to kick out. It gets a little squirrelly but nothing uncontrollable. I will be interested to see what it is like on the street in the next snow storm.

Next thing I did is went to some deeper snow and put it in 4 low. As far as steering I can turn pretty much as tight as I could before. Only difference is the steering wheel wants to return to center. But I was very surprised with how little it effected the steering, and of course the traction was amazing, even more so with my rear ox locker engaged too.

So far I would highly recommend an aussie for a front locker, I cant wait to try it out offroad at sno blind!

Good info. I've been wondering about the steering in snow.

Call me retarded but I don't think anyone locker will give you more traction than another...I mean how does one lock "more" than the other? locked is locked...

??? I have an ox locker in the rear and now an aussie in the front. I was just saying that with just the front axle locked I had amazing traction and even more impressive with my rear axle locked too. Sorry I guess I should have said that, im used to having a signature under my posts on other forums and it has the specs on my jeep in it.

I run an Aussie in my front 44 with no issues. I'm running 36's.

When I used to drive on the road I also had one in my D30. In 4wd the front end would pull the Jeep to each edge of the lane depending on snow/slush. I typically drove in 2wd unless the snow was deep or I was going slow.

I have an Aussie in the front of my Xj, I love it. As soon as I get my ford 8.8 in the rear one will be going in there.
