Define "Blew mine up".

It may be expensive to have a dealer do it, but these things are pretty easy to fix on your own.

"blew it up" as in shattered piston and cracked case right where the cam bearings go.I already took the engine out and sent it to a guy but says its gonna be $2500 to fix it...Yeah right.I'll post in the wanted section too. Thanks for the hint

Thats kind of the plan.I also have a 2001 yamaha warrior that i plan to get rid of and use the money to buy a different bike.but i want to try and fix the other one so my wife will have something to ride.I've e-mailed numerous salvage yards but haven't heard back from any. Hard to believe there isn't an engine somewhere in this country

How much do you want for the whole thing with a bad engine? Assume judging by the talk that you would be most likely to look at a complete newer model

That was my other option but as of yesterday, I got a call from a place in Texas that has a running motor still in the bike for me. Cost me with shipping $1000 which i thought wasn't a bad price coming from that far away.Guy told me that the kodiaks are few and far between for salvage.Guess i'll learn to check the oil a little more often. Thanks for all the replies guys.

My buddy has blown up his kodiack 3 times. the second engine didn't even make the second oil change. make sure if you BUY an engine they warrenty the thing for some time or miles.
