winch controller relocation

Anyone have any info on how to relocate the controller on my ATV's winch? it's a Warn U2500, has the controller on the end, I can't see how it comes off.

Well the switch comes off somehow and your best bet is to get a solenoid pack and remote switch for it.

You can also get longer cables and just put it anywhere you want. You just have to extend the ones that go from the switch to the winch.

well, figured it out, the switch was mounted by copper tabs going out to the cable contacts on the end of the motor, loosen then, the the switch slid right off, the cables were long enought to mount this switch to the fender and cut the cables and rout them from the copper tabs back to the motor so everthing still works. It's easy enough, I would do some pics and a quick write up, but since this winch is discontinued, I bet most people already have them set up how they want. I did hear these switches tend to burn out, so if it does, then I'll do the solenoid pack set up...

If you ever have to do an upgrade don't buy anything with the Warn name on it. That stupid grey switch is about $85 from Warn and the solenoid upgrade is $130. There are cheaper solutions if you look for them.
