Question Plans for upgrading Zr2 Sten

Hey guys, I'm a n3wb to this site, and Im a proud owner of a 2000 zr2, plans for putting glassworks fenders front and rear with some 33's but would definitely like to modify the suspension on it with coil-overs front and rear, the only things i know so far about upgrading it, is getting different upper A arms. I cant seem to find any long travel kits for a 4x4 sten anywhere around, so if anyone has suggestions on where to get one, or what it takes to piece something together that wont break, I'd appreciate it. im going for the pre-runner style setup if that helps?

Thanks.

Scott

There was a guy on Peterson's UA that swapped out differentials for one ton versions. I don't know what is involved But I guess a lot of work. Oh yeah prerunner shit is gay, especially in michigan. Please do not ruin truck like that. Build it up and put 40's on it.

prerunner shit isnt gay. a while back i had crazy thoughts of makeing a long travel prerunner s truck and i found a few kits but i wasnt too impressed with them. they were 3-4 grand and didnt give the suspension travel i would have liked. the kits i found were for the 2wds tho so you might have to make your own for your ZR2. it would take alot of fabrication that i odnt know if you would want to get into

yea scott, i did some more looking and didn't find much... i think for now you should just go for the look... and we'll do some work with ball joint mods, low profile snubbers and who knows... basically all the sheap tricks unless you just want to get any old drop kit.

Thebigchev... ever ridden in a prerunner that eats 2 foot ruts sideways at 60 mph... didn't think so. Its a whole different story

I have a Zr2 too but im not that concerned about modding im happy with the way iyt peforms now for what mild wheeling it sees..

That'll change in a few years...just talk to Muddinguy. :tonka:

They're not that bad...I think muddinguy just got a lemon.

Build it up for what you're mainly going to be using it for. Is it still going to be a DD?

Anyways, Welcome to GL4x4
