Figured I'd post the old ones..

Here's my 98 TJ 4.0/5-speed, only options were cloth seats and the Dana 44(ran 3.73 gears with the little 27" tires)

At this time(early 1999) it was running a 3" RE lift & 31x10.5 BFGs

Here's my CJ. From Day 1, always better than the TJ. V8 power and weighed 800 lbs less than that low hanging overweight pig of a Jeep..

1975 CJ-5 Renegade Levi's Edition
304 V8 / T15 3 speed stick / Dana 20 / Dana 30 front/Dana 44 rear (all narrow track) with 3.73 gears.. manual steering 4 wheel manual drums. Yeehaw..

The day I brought it home:



Here it is it with a spring over with the original springs, no shocks at all, worn out steering box and still those non functional manual drums all around. Even more Yeehaw! To think it saw 65 mph in this configuration! Skinny 34x9.5 swampers on 15x7 rims..




FInally, I rebuilt it pretty good. Went to modified YJ springs, lock rites in both axles, discs up front(rebuilt the whole brake system), 1978 body, 81 windshield, 81 column/pedals, full cage braced to the frame. Warn 8000 winch, etc, etc, etc.. Ran the 34s as well as runnign 35x12.5 SSRs front/35x14.5" Boggers out back..

Hey Jesus , How come when I see older wheeling pictures, it seems that the thing to do back then was running 10" wide tires??

How come you don't see this anymore?

Well, me and duneripper were running skinnys, not many others. Swampjeep copied me.


I will be building a flattie sometime in the next year or so, and it will definately be on 34x9.5 swampers again.

The 34x9.5 bias ply swampers are called Special Service tires, they are a very deep lug, deeper than other swampers and just about all of the boggers, too.

They are the most aggresive tires I've ever run. in anything with a hint of bottom, they have 500% more traction than my boggers every did. In clay ruts, like at the mounds with all the slick-snot stuff, there is not a better tire. You could just turn the tires and climb up out of anything

Look here for a great video featuring this CJ (I'm the only open top Jeep) and see the tires work.. FYI, I'm in 2WD the whole video, I broke my front carrier in half loading it onto the trailer, so I wheeled in 2wd low the whole time. That day many couldn't follow me even in 4wd, which I attribute to those tires..
