makeing 150-200 hp from a '92 tracker?

i know it can be done, but cost wise is it worth it or just go with a 4.3 swap?

Out of what motor? If you want 150-200 hp in a tracker motor, then get a 2.5 or 2.7l V6...

dumb idea. expensive. unreliable. still no torque where you need it.

swap the engine.

or better yet! get the rest of the truck capable enough that power is what is holding you back. then when you swap engines you can really tell what your vehicle is capable of.

on leaf springs? 200hp, 37s and a 10 bolt with stock shafts will break, if you put alloy shafts in it you already paid to upgrade to a 60 without any room to grow. you can however get away with it if you dont wheel that hard.....

by the time you fork out the 3k for a blower (roots/screw or centrifical?) and the 2 grand for a reliable vortec you could have had just about any other engine out there. packaging would be a serious issue too.

if you're set on supercharged; a 3800 with some tweeks to a 904 to a d300 or whatever would be the way to go. if not supercharged go for the most power for the least amount of weight in the smallest package.

if money doesnt matter the perfect engine for a tracker would be probably the 2008 cts 3.6L with direct injection and VVT...... 300hp with lots of torque all over

that would be between the series of numbers between the "3800" and "d300"

its a trans that is most commonly found behind the cherokees that had the gm 2.8L 60 degree v6. I believe there are a few 700r4's out there that had a 60 degree pattern but they were 2wd if i remember correctly.

im sure someone with more knowledge on the subject can point you to exactly what you need.
