snowmobile wont run--electrical??

I have a 2000 polaris 500 I bought new. It hs like 3700 miles. I start it like every month in the summer. This time when I started it it, the lights were not on at all. I shut it down because I was late for work. I started it againthis week and it fired right up as always but the lights were on but it was not quite right. I reved it up a few times the lights went out and then it died and wont restart.

What do you guys think. Any hints would be helpfull. Or if someone is looking to buy one let me know.

Thanks Cory

check for spark. if you dont have spark then i would guess something in the ignition system went bad. If you do have spark pull the motor over and have your lights on, have someone stand infront of the sled and see if your head light goes on while your pulling/cranking it. if you dont have spark or your light doesnt come on id suspect something in your magneto.

Ok this is usually one of two things...

You have a yellow wire rubbed through somewhere on the harness, or your main stator connector on the backside of the recoil has managed to come loose which causes weird things to happen.

A ziptie on the connector will fix it.
