Sportsman 500 gas mileage problem

I am just posting this so it's somewhere on the net for those looking.

I have had a few customers complain about really bad gas mileage on their '05 Carbed Sportsman 500's. Here's what i have done to fix it.

1. Raise the clip on the needle to drop the needle down 1 position
2. remove the brass plug on the idle air screw and set the screw to 1-3/4 or 2 turns out

Just by doing this my customers have seen close to 5mpg better and say it runs better than it did before.

I would assume this works on the '06+ carb models too but we never sold any so I don't know for sure.
