Body Tubs Fiber/kevlar/steel

here my issue i used to be all gun ho about the kevlar and fiberglass tubs but after i rolled my jeep rearend over front on a sand dune i feel those would be a bad choice cuz there significantly lighter then steel. I mostly mud and hill climb so in your guys opinion whats the best way to go, if you have fiberglass or kevlar hows it workin out for you? What would be the advantages and disadvantages of going with either of them. The only problem i see with steel is the likelihood to rust, and with fiberglass it seems like it would be alot of work drilling and runing hte ground block, and if by some chance i hit somethin and break the fiberglass it seems like it would be a difficult fix if it could be fixed at all. I may be wrong but thats why im posting to find out what you guys think about these types of tubs.

I don't quite understand your logic. I don't think you flipped your Jeep on the dunes because it was too light, but more due to driver error. With that being said.....

I ran a 'glass bodied CJ7 for a while. The grounding issue really isn't a big deal. I had copper plate which sandwiched my tub using three studs. My dash harness was grounded to one stud. Stud #2 went to the engine block. Stud #3 went to the frame. Kinda redundant, but I didn't have electric problems.

I think 'glass is fine for trail-ridin', but it doesn't accept impact forces too well.
I don't have any experience with Kevlar tubs.

On my next project, I'm trying to decide between repairing steel body, or just ponying up some loot for one of these products. http://www.aqualu.com/CJ.html Stronger than steel, light as 'glass, no rust...

I have a fiberglass 4WD Hardware tub on my CJ7. I don't know the actual weight but it isn't much less than the steel.

My glass tub has been rolled twice, cage is mounted to the frame, radiator hoop, and rock rails take alot of abuse, but my tub is in relatively good shape. I've seen steel tubs with way more damage from similar rolls.

centech http://www.centechwire.com/catalog/jeeps/jp76d.shtml has wireing harnesses with the ground built into the harness.

fiberglass will take a pretty big hit without bending or cracking.

Yep. I used the Centech also.

I had a 4WD Hardware fiberglass tub on my old Scrambler, and I wasn't really that impressed with the construction. If I were you, I'd consider an aluminum tub from JP Offroad/Aqualu. They're built VERY heavy, and look great.

If I didn't have an OEM steel Scrambler tub already, I'd be looking at an aluminum '-8 tub.
