The tube that the front body mount is attached to

If I cut that out, and then put some 1/4 inch flate plate in there, do you think it will do the same thing? I am looking to mount my winch there. I am getting the tube ready to bend for my new grill gaurd and fenders, and a little other stuff, and that tube is pissing me off.

So what are your thoughts about it?

Why would you need to cut it out? There are holes on the top of the frame to bolt a 1/4 inch winch plate to. Mine is 3/8's angle.

my guess is maybe he wants to move it 4" lower...

yes you can cut out the front crossmember.. mines gone..

but i also have a new 3/16 2x4 bumper welded to the front..

yes, I want to move the winch lower, and don't want to run a winch bumper or anything like that. Also don't want to weld the bumper in there. I was thinking I would weld it just above the steering pump, on extend the frame about 4 inches or so, and weld it at the bottom of the frame, and then mount my winch to it. Still figuring out what I ant to do for the bumper, something low profile. I don't plan on running a stinger, but will have the rad. mounted to the hoop that I am going to build over it, and tie the tube fenders into that, and then the frame.


If you ever have seen hosejocky's cj-7, something like that, just modified a little for what I want.
