I just use whatever the group decides to use. But my CB has a handy little knob that I can just turn and switch from one channel to another so I have never found it necessary to decide on a channel 3 weeks beforehand.

"Officially" the pig gig takes place entirely at Grandmans property, so everyones pretty much within yelling distance so CB's are rarely used.

Sometimes, some of us leave the pig gig and head out on our own to explore some other areas. When that happens we just decide as a group what channel to use, sometimes switching to avoid other user traffic..

I kinda wondered about that. I think with the advent of cell phones the idea of using the CB channel 9 for emergencys is probably obsolete.

Was channel 9 ever monitored by the authorities? I always thought it was to talk to someone else who was moving who could find a payphone to call the cops.

???

I can remember back in the old day, before cell phones, that there were signs along some major highways saying that they monitored channel 9. Most people used channel 19 for general chit-chat while driving.
