HELP! suzuki rm250

I have a 1984 suzuki rm250 dirtbike, and the motor is undergoing some surgery. My question is, is the case made of alluminum or magnesium. The stator cover says magnesium, but is that just that cover, or is the rest of the case made of magnesium as well. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

well the best way to tell is to shave some tiny peices off with a razor knife where it won't hurt the engine case(flashing or fin on the outside) then put heat to them. if they ignite then they are magnesium

forgive my edit. I was just reminded by my son it takes "sparks" to ignite magnesium. it burns around 5300* F so be prepared.

should be aluminum - it is cheaper for cases. It is generally used on covers because it can be thin and light.
