Garmin eTrex Cx accuracy issues...

The eTrex Cx series is notorious for having 20' +- accuracy problems with a few versions of it's software. There is an easy fix though.

First backup all your waypoints, tracks, routes and POI's on your PC.

Next download and install Web Updater
http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/

Now install the newest software update for your unit using Web Updater.

After the update, power up your unit and make sure everything is working OK.

Turn the unit off.

Now do a "Hard Reset" of the unit by simultaneously holding down the center of the click stick (enter) and the button on the top right side (quit) then pressing the power button. The unit will ask if you want to reset all user data. (you backed everything up right )

After the reset make sure the unit is turned on and leave it in a place with a clear view of the sky for 20 min.

It will reacquire your location, and maybe even pick up a new bird or two. The accuracy problem should now be solved.

I press the mentioned buttons and nothing happens.

It worked for me. I'm typically hitting 8 feet error range now.

Are you sure you're pressing them all at once?

After closer review, I tried it with the unit off.

Worked fine.
