Ideas for the 4x4 course ?

Theres not a lot of room to add any thing new , I have put in a new obsticle this year to high center you . The question im posing is in regards to how hard the course should be to run .

My orginal intent was to make it possible but difficult for a 4x4 with 1 locker and 33 " tires . From obervations on the course i think we were pretty damn close to our goal .

Im not so sure 33 " tires is average any more .

Should the course become more difficult or remain about the same as it has been on the difficulty scale ?

Should the center mud pit be made into a different obsticle ?

From what I have noticed, 80% of the 4x4 vehicles there are closer to stock, then they are to being extremely mod'd.

If you make it more difficult, it will be a downside for the majority.

But on the otherhand, if its more difficult, then the stockers can play on all the local boring two tracks, and then more people would have fun watching the better equppied vehicles being damaged and flopped.

What I've found out, no matter what you do, some people will cry, and some people will be happy.

Ill think on that , easier then it sounds given the terrain we have here and limited room for the course . That dont mean its impossible though .

Perhaps eaiser on one side of the bridge and harder on the other side . To the back theres a lot more high ground .

Cc your spot on , you can not please every one so i shoot for a happy medium .

Thats what I'm thinking. Plenty of trails in the area for smaller rigs, make a course to challenge the more built rigs.

The vote will tell the tale . So far it looks like its time to make it " Carnage road "

Im thinking keep the mud and make it nasty if difficult is wanted . The new break over nightmare can be adjusted easily . The log jam is easy to increase difficulty on as well .

I remember the center mud pit when we came up for the canoe trip prior to the Gig last year. It was a lot harder then at the Gig. Perhaps something along that line would be good. And the logs a bit more difficult isn't a bad thought either. I don't think the people come there to see bone stockers beat something called a "tank trap". On the other hand, you have maniacs like MudnYJ who just tear it up and go for broke. Those that want to try it can, if they don't make it, they get towed out, simple as that.

I think the course should remain as is, per driving it during the Pre-Pig Gig.
Well, maybe stack some of the trees together like the culverts your taking about. Once the bark gets peeled off, should be interesting with even a little crisco added on.

With the opening hole, is there any possibility of making it wider. So that there's a hard line thats really steep, and an easier side thats not as steep? Or a 2nd hole to the left in the trees there. Make different difficulties.

I loved that spot, but would have been impossible for the 33" and under crowd.

The center mud pit would have been impassible for most, as it was for us. I would have hydrolocked if I went any deeper. Maybe keep it full of water, but then pump it out just before the gig, so it'll be good and sloppy, but not pushing a 42" wall of water.

Maybe put more concrete or rocks on the little section between the log jam and the start of the concrete pile. Or more logs in the log jam.

Was a good run, though

I should have crossed the river, I thoguht it was only the tank trap. I had enough of getting swamped...

So, maybe looking at this pic, can you widen it on the drivers side into the trees another 8 feet, to make multiple exits out..then dig out the triangle of grass to the passenger side rear, so you can line up better for the new angle..

Haggar , the opening hole - climb would only get tore out even if i did widen it . I am going to alter it , cut the center out and dig across from the current hole that captures your drivers front tire . That should make it more doable for 33" tires . In the begingin 33" and a locker could do that obsticle .

I dont want to tear that whole ridge up and thats what would come of wideing it out . I may pump it nearly dry in the future prior to an event as well which would help with traction and help stop erosion of that obsticle .

I notice the log jam area now has some big holes too , Ill fill them in then lay down a corduroy road with log obsticles simular to the culvert idea i had to better prlong the useablity of the course for modest rigs .

" IF " i put in a second 1st hole option it would be restricted to stock to 33" tire rigs .

Center mud hole is normally 1/2 that deep , we had just been drowned prior to the event but the muck is getting bad in the bottom

Damn it Jesus now you have me thinking . Maybe i will fill in the current hole at the start of the course making it a stock to mild build obsticle and start a new modified rig starting hole a little to the left of the current one . That would stop a lot of the mud in the yard issues .

It'd be sweet to have a few options.

I know I had a lot of fun on that spot, but that a SWB, or smaller tired truck couldn't have got up that spot. I'd want it to be fun for all.
