What do you guys think about the FJ Cruiser?

FJ Cruiser

Fox Toyota said they should have a black one in with a stick in the middle of March for demo. They are taking orders now. Made in Japan with the 4Runners, I think.

My opnion, too. But I of the firm opinion that you should build a dedicated wheeler that can bash into anything and you do care.

I know thats the opposite of your philosophy MCM, not trying to argue, just thats how I do things, so, therefore, anything like that, I look at it as on on-road vehicle.

I think it's nice, but I'd buy a new RAV4 first, 0-60 in 6.6 seconds, 269 hp, nice commuter..

:tonka:

Are you kidding me? There isn't a straight piece of sheet metal on my rig. Both headlight bezels are barely hanging on, and I've had to replace 3 mirrors so far because I keep hitting trees with them! I love taking the ATV trail at the Mounds. However, it is still road-worthy so I can pull a utility trailer with it and take it to Home Depot for supplies. :miff:

Still, Nancy was thinking about getting rid of the Camry (her 3rd one) and I was considering the new FJ.

I meant my comments in terms of the FJ CRuiser. I know you've said you don't like to tow/trailer.

I drove my XJ to this trip. DIdn't realy hold back, lot of full throttle assaults, left the ground at least 3 times. Hit a stump, really messed up the front end, bent a steel wheel up bad, had a no-fun drive home 130 miles.

I need a new trailer..

oh ya. I saw the vid. Looked fun. Actually, 2 weeks ago in Grayling I had the XJ 3 feet in the air on 3 consecutive bumps. I laughed my ass off! It was by accident though. Those whoop di dos are hard to see in the snow.

I like it alot. Can't wait to see one in person. You know people will be sasing them in the future. Good wheelbase, good engine, and electric locker. I also like how you can get the tilt meter on the dash!

I had my heart set on one and even had one on hold at a dealer, that is until i drove it.
they look great and drive really nice, but the seating and the inside is just not comfortable. also the blind spots are horrible. the veiw out the passenger front (when driving) is limited, and the rear window is only good for use with the rearview mirror.
overall I ended up with a '06 Taco DblCab for less money and the ride is similar, but much more comfortable inside.

Guy checked out from his wedding night and i talked with him for about 30 min about it.. he put some stock sized MT/R's on it and he said its the best of the box wheeler hes ever driven.. Says it put his last TJ Rubicon to shame.. (he claimed to know his off road shit and had a full tube buggy on 42's at home)
Personally i cant say much for them. i think theyre ugly as sin.. But look capable.
