there are actually, in the U.S., 11 white history months. january, march, april, may, june, july, august, september, october, november, and december.

god damn, people gotta complain about everything, it's a lousy 28 days dedicated to the history of black americans, how the hell does it affect you. Ok, after your people are enslaved for hundreds of years and treated like shit, you can have a dipshit history month.

Even after indentured servitude was outlawed, these newly freed people were treated as second-class citizens, used as untrained cannon fodder in wars, and denied equal rights and access to education, medical care, etc...

However, Mr. Mt. Pleasant pseudo-intellectual I am white. In fact, I am about as white as you could possibly be without becoming transparent.

Darnit you beat me to it duff man i wanted to slam sova. I am italian and hispanic (argentinian, paraguanian,spanish) my people have been discriminated against. Granted the poor irish and italians are not races but they came enmass to america millions at a time and were not well recieved and there are plenty of jokes about both groups (which by the way i think are hilarious just like black jokes). Now my belgian heritage i cannot think of one joke ever about the Beligans because my belgian ancestors came over with no problem and quickly were accepted.

PS sova, if feb is black, and the other 11 months are "white history months" ?? how did the poor asians and hispanic minorities get screwed over so bad. The asians in the 1800s were darn near slaves. Not tons of them in michigan but unlike you i think they are just as american as me and just as deserving of a month (that or do away with black history month). The population of american asians, hispanics, and blacks is with in a percentange and a fraction. even chris rock says the indians got it worse than the blacks. When was the last time you saw an indian? you see one a few years ago and dont see one for 5-6 years. Blacks are everywhere. WE (WHITE AMERICA/ which i half consider my self part of also despite being hispanic) TRIED TO ENSLAVE THE INDIANS. Being the great people the american indians were they refused to work and would starve to death or let themselves be beaten to death. It was not for a lack of trying on the white mans part. So i want at least italian, irish, pacific islander, hispanic, arab, jewish and american indian month if we HAVE to have black history month for all the whities suffering from white shame.

Black history month is nothing more than an anual guilt trip for white america to remind us, that SOME of america in the past treated SOME of the blacks poorly, and because of that ALL the blacks today get treated with kid gloves in this weird paradox where nothing is wrong with what they do, everything is the fault of stuff that happened 130 years ago, and they simply cannot be expected to move on, to man up, get on with things, and pull themselves up by their boot straps, like everyother ethnic group in america does. No No they are strong, great, proud people, but the just need all these considerations and special loopholes and handouts! see the conflict there ?

Just a legislated guilt trip to remind white folk they are not allowed to criticize.
