This year’s event will benefit

This year’s event will benefit United Four Wheel Drive Association and
Children with Hairloss.

Good to know. Any particular connection with the Children with Hairloss or would you rather keep it private? I would understand.

No, we have no connection with this charity.
We discussed several charities at our meetings, we felt something should go to our sport, and one other charity. Several charities were discussed, we voted, this one won. I really don't know a lot about it myself, but understand they help children to deal with hair loss from various causes.

I also don't want anyone mis-lead, some of the profits from this event will go to our club fund. When Yogi passed this event on to us He said he has always given the raffle proceeds to the charity. Our plan is similar, to start with, 100% of raffle proceeds will go directly to these charities. Without knowing what all we will put out for this event or get out of it, we haven't discussed where the rest will go directly. Our club currently uses our dues in multiple ways, from donationes to charities, to our own club events. We have made good donationes to Bear at Christmas time, and to other members of our wheeling community in times of need. I'm sure this will just increase as our bank increases.

As John stated, no real connection to Children with Hairloss. We did a run for them at the shop I work for last year, and are doing it again this year. I suggested this charity as they assist children who have lost their natural hair obtain hair pieces. I like giving money to kids, and the committee agreed, so they got the vote.
As for UFWDA, they support us, so we support them.

Sounds good!

I have a question though. Will some of these proceeds actually end up going to Roadhouse?

It's a good charity, seeing how a wig of natural hair can cost as much as $300 (if you want it to look realistic)

Sorry, even though he may be a kid at heart, he is beyond help!

Didn't know what the cost was, I just like the fact we are helping kids.

I think she was just saying that's how much someone would have to pay out of pocket.

x2. Its gotta be hard enough for a little kid to go through something like chemo, this helps them move past it. Small things can have big rewards.

Oh I agree, I just meant that its hard for a kid to lose their hair, and some families can't afford to buy wigs...so anyway that we can help the kids I'm all for it.

Sorry Doc, didn't mean to make light of the cost you quoted, it is good to know that. You are right, some people can't afford it, and we get to help. Works for me. Nothing like helping kids out.

If there is anyone that is comming to the event that would like to donate there hair to Locks of Love. I can see if one of the local hair dressers would like to come out to the Pig Gig and Cut your hair. My Daughter-in-Law and Granddaughter grow there hair and do this about every 3 years. anyway if anyone want to do this let me know and I will get something set up for you.

This question obviously isn't aimed at me:tonka:

Now back to what Miffy posted, doesn't the hair have to be certain length to qualify?
