How Much is This YJ Worth?

So when I was home over break, I saw this '90 Jeep sitting on M-55 west of Cadillac. I stopped and took a few pics and decided to call the guy later that night. I popped the hood and found a 4.0 with a manual trans and opened the doors to reveal a speedo reading 160,000. Now with as bad of shape as this thing is in, I thought I could get it pretty cheap, We'll I guessed wrong.

The guys who is selling it somehow thinks that he is sitting on a gold mine and is asking $2,500 for it, which is about $2000 more than I am willing to pay.

Maybe I'm so spoiled because things in the XJ world are a dime a dozen because the things were popped out like rabbits. IDK

Take a look for yourself and tell me what you think:

not a chance, the top is shit, rust, fender is screwed up. 16000 isnt bad for a 4.0 but still alot of miles for the price, i got a 95 in better condit then that with a brand new softtop and a hardtop for 2000 but its got a 2.5. id say pass on it

Yah, there is no way I would go buy it, It's Beat bad. I just thought it would be kinda funny to see what other people thought about it... If anyone else thinks they wanna screw with it, be my guest, I sure as heck don't call dibs...

you wont find an open top jeep running for $500 unless it's total shit. I agree with Kelly $2500 is to much, but I could see $1500.

If it is a 90 it does not have a 4.0 unless that was swapped in. It would be a carbed 4.2. Yet still I would say $1500 would be fair if it is a 4.0 with EFI.

heheeh i got mine for $200 it ran, but it didnt have brakes.. and other parts soon failed, but thats not the point..lol

First off, as a CJ owner, let me remind you that YJs don't rust. At least that's what all the YJ owners told us when they came out........


I'd say it's worth $2500 since that is what the owner has decided he wants to sell it for. If you don't want to pay that, then walk away and find something that matches your price and specifications....

I dont care who you are or what you own, if it has metal (Ruling out Fieros)on it and you drive it in the winter in Michigan, It Will Rust in Less Than 10 years if you dont wash it after every trip you take. The Chemistry of Oxidizing rules over what anyone will say...This is a fact.
