Seems this is a Fabrication area here are some of the things iv done at home on the Grand .

Thanks guys . The halo is one piece . The center up rights are cupped at the top . If you look close you can see the cups . Front and rear legs of the cage are sleeved . This makes it removable incase the dash has to come apart . The cage went from concept ( in my head ) to installed in 3 days .

speaking of the Gorilla . Crossing into Canada , border guard opens trailer , then opens back of jeep , sees Gorilla jumps out of trailer with a look of WTF .

Cage was bent on a cheap pipe bender , you do have to take your time making hte bends but it can be done nice and clean .

CC ill get you a photo of the connection points .

This is an XJ, but it's the same concept.

Those one the XJ i dont like the attachment . Mine are L shaped to give greater support when landing on a boulder . Heres is how i did it , simular but also attaches under the body frame section as well as the side .

Pic 2 you can see there no longer straight . That was from a few hard landings on big rock .





I dont buy much after market stuff for 2 reasons . 1 can i do it cheaper . 2 i look at theres and see weak areas . Improve on it and build it .

What's the wall thickness on the rails? Scooter had a set of our early ones on his XJ without issues.... if anyone could ruin em... he could

very clean cage, i have used a bender acouple times, but still working on it.I am going to put one in the dodge hopefully soon, nice rockers though, i bought some western step bars, yeah they are bent to piss, but hold the truck up.

you said the cage comes apart? id like to see how you made the joints, because thats one of the things i was contemplating about the cage.

I like the "L" bracket better also...it makes the install idiot proof....don't ask me how I know

in short the center up rights are set into a cup at the top , you can see it in a pic .

Front and rear up rights are sleeved and pinned , pull the 3/8 grade 8 bolts and the sleeve will slid clear of the butt joint allowing the halow to come out in one piece . corners are gusited as well . It is not a nascar cage but it is built from dom tubing , sleeves are made from drive shaft material . Strong walled tubing and makes a nice snug fit on the DOM tubing . You do not want room for the cage to move inside the sleeve . that would create a weak spot .

While i wouldnt want to roll it 100 mph , it will afford a lot of protection in an average wheeler roof roll .:gman:
