whats a 40 worth

ok i have a chance to trade and get a fj40. it is a little rusty but frame is solid. it is less rusty than some i have seen. it runs and drives. all stock missing top and seats. just wondering what this would be worth roughly? i just wanna make sure i am not loosing on the deal.

well I personally would not trade a mini for an FJ40.
the FJ40 axles are weaker than the mini truck stuff. the 6cyl engines are under powered worse than the 22r. to fix up and drive around with mild wheeling, a stock FJ40 is fine. anything bigger than a 31" tire is pushing it.
now if it's cheap and you are going to build it then go for it.

Problem is usually they end up selling for quite higher than they seem worth, due to scarcity.

They are kinda like an old jeep, where the body is cool, but you want to rip out every bid of mechanicals and wiring and start over with modern stuff. Basically, what Brimy did with his, and what I'll do with my flattie.

I'd say if you could get it for an $800 civic, hell yeah. Even clapped out ones don't usually go cheap.

I used to see a red one every now and then (that was from CO I think) when I lived there about 8 years ago. Some blonde-haired dude drove it. Wasn't in bad shape but not aa show-winner for sure.

I would go for the swap unless you need the HOnda for transportation..

Wanna see my 6cyl break loose 35s?

As for axle weakness, sure Mini trucks have bigger birfields, but stock 40 axles are still as strong or stronger that dana 44s.

The year of the 40 makes a big difference, anything past 76 had better upgrades.
