XJ Oil pumps

im looking to boost my oil pressure back to closer to normal ranges--

cold idle pressure 40+
after a 30 min hiway drive coming to a stop at idle pressure drops to 0 (and can hear engine starving for oil)
rev engine up to 2K pressure is at 20

i thinking my current pump has some wear with currently 140K miles or it could be the pressure relief spring in the pump that is worn out
as a last resort i was thinking about replacing the crank bearings

would a i need a high pressure pump OR hi volume pump?

if you want to improve what you got without a rebuild then go with the High Volume pump. it will make up for wear & tear.by the way have checked the sender? it could be bad and giving you a false reading just my .02

Not using a Fram filter are you? 4.0's don't like the restrictive Frams.

I think that posting this in Jeep Tech would help your oil pressure a lot.:tonka:

Not to mention get your post more replies.

High flow pump is a bandaid to the real problem... and IMHO a waste of money.

When my Jeeps bearings were going it would do the same thing... 50 on startup, and 0 at warm idle. I milked it with some motor honey for a few months until it started burning a quart every 300 miles. Then a did a motor swap.
