XJ man runs that setup in his XJ, 36 inch TSL's locked front and rear with one pieces in the rear, he is kickin ass.

I am going to try the same axles on my XJ. I heard that there is a 2pc axle in the rear, and that was a weak link, but replaced with a 1pc and should be golden. Someone corect me if I am wrong.

The FSJ AMC 20 has one peice shafts from the factory.

You would still be better off with a pair of Waggy D44s from a later model.

I only agree with Cooter due to FSJ C20 shaft availability issues if you break one. Parts axles are cheap, but tough to find.

That, and the fact that the front D44 most likely will be a disconnect D44 if it came from the same rig as the AMC 20.

If someone told you this about some axles they are selling, they either don't know what they are talking about, or its a CJ C20.

Both rigs my 2 amc20's came out of were an 81, and an 83, both with disconnect d44's.

the stock FSJ amc20 axle has a 1 piece shaft (previously covered)

amc 20 with one piece shafts:
has 1 less spline than a d44
bigger ring gear than a d44
is usually thought to be stronger than a d44 with the exception of the thin tubes (trussing ususally solves this)
gears are easier to setup than a d44 (carrier shims on outside of bearings)

only thing to watch out for is that when dealing with year ranges 81 and 83 (at least in my case) the axle in teh 83 was a bit wider than the 81. the shorter of the two shafts in the 83 was the same length as the longer of the two in the 81 axle.

I'd get them. I run welded in my amc20, and i have had 0 problems to date, after rompin around Moab, Skanee (MI) and various other wheelin around here.

Note - the FSJ C20's have bigger/stronger tubes than the CJ C20's with larger bearings. The whole trussing thing (although still not a bad idea anyway) stemmed from people bending tubes on CJ housings. On CJ's, they are a smaller diameter and not pressed into the diff housing very far.

sweet. I guess i really only need a new diff cover then until i do links in the rear
