Not feeling that People want to help me out

Every time I post to someone either selling parts or giving them away I either get no comment or they dont have it anymore. I don't know what I have done to anyone in this group I am a person that would like to get my Jeep done someday. I feel like I am not wanted by people that like to 4-Wheel.

Dude, you've only made 16 posts total. Quit being so impatient.

You posted this same thought here. And Pavement Pounder posted a reply, which you didn't respond to.

Other than that, I noticed on Swampjeeps, MrClean responded to let you know Swami would be out of town until today. Other post I looked at was from today, and the original starter has not been on line since you posted.

My thoughts? Relax, follow the advise given in the other thread by PP, and deal with it.

By the way, I responded to you, happy?

I read back through all your posts and I believe the problem is that you are charging the seller with the task of chasing you down instead of making an effort yourself. You say you are interested and toss your email or number in the thread, but I don't see you indicating that you are serious by saying "I want to come look at them", or something similar. You can't just sit around and expect to get the parts because you made a post. If you want something, you have to take action and make it happen. Otherwise, it'll go someplace else. When someone is interested in something I have, I expect them to contact me directly even though I do watch all my threads closely. Sometimes it gets tough when I am juggling a lot of stuff and I forget about people. Shit happens.

Another thing to consider is that many usrs here are not very skilled with using VBulletin and have no idea how Thread Subscriptions work, so they don't know you have replied to the thread until they eventually log in again - and then they sometimes can't even find it because its gotten buried in the Forum. This is why contacting them directly via PM is important, as many people do not enable automatic Thread Subscriptions when setting their Options, but they will enable automatic Private Message Notification.

I also noticed in at least one instance that you posted for items that you wanted in the For Sale Forum and the thread never got moved by a Moderator. Hardly anybody saw that thread at all (NT D30 with 4.10's, locker, headers, 87 YJ license plate frame). Its important to pay attention to detail when you are posting, or you just won't get the results you want.

You can't "demand" that people who visit the site to buy or sell stuff participate in anything. That will only serve to attract people who are reluctant to post, making them more likely to be "troll-ish" when they do.

Well, then those people won't sell their items. A stranger's money is green just like anyone else's. If they are worried about having problems, they should adopt "safer" selling practices, like cash only upon pickup/delivery, no electronic check only via PayPal, or writing out a Bill Of Sale that clearly states "as-is" or "no returns", etc.

Actually, I've done more business with lurkers and newbies here on GL than any of the people I know. Most times, I see them posting more after the transaction because they have now had an opportunity to deal with and/or meet someone from the board. Meeting someone in person does a lot more to "bring them in" (or generate more business) than anything else, which is another reason I prefer delivery/pick-up to shipping.
