F150 I-6 replacement - carbed to EFI question

Im planning on replacing a junk motor in my 95 f-150. I've got a good carbed motor sitting on the floor and was planning on swapping heads and putting just the new block in. This decision was made after research told me that the carbed head is diff from the EFI head. After actually looking at the two, it looks like the only diff. is the ports for the smog pump are in the EFI head. Injector ports are in the intake. Was told by a mechanic that if I eliminate the cat-convertor I can eliminate the smog pump.

Will that work with the O2 sensor and the computer?

Can anyone confirm that the head from the carbed motor will work with the EFI intake?

Last i remember the bolt holes for the intake/exhaust were different between the two. Do a search over at fordsix.com/forum its been posted there many times.

As for the o2 sensor on the Efi, it will more than likely throw the code and go into limp home mode as people liek to call it. Thats if it is mounted behind the cat. If its mounted in front of the cat then i would remove it and not worry.

Also if you think you are going to remove the smog pump and you have a sserpentine belt setup, are you going to make up an idler pulley in its place to take up the extra slack in the belt or do you know the length of the shorter belt you will need?

thanks. I didnt check the intake/exhaust. Since Im back to using the EFI head, Ill probably use the smog pump too. Right now it's just a matter of hooking the hose back up as I put everything back together. Easier than messing with an idler pulley or a diff belt.
