which rear axle gives you the best bang for your buck: Dana 60, Dana 70, or 14 Bolt?

if this was a post about what is strongest then i would say dana 70

fuct no i dont. but you never stated what you were putting it in. i think its the best bang for my buck because it is strong easy quick to work on and there are tons of parts and upgrades for that axles as well. now im not saying those others are hard to work. and those are some really nice well built axles but if you put them in say CJ 5 with 33 or 35's it would be kind of pointless. now a full size ford with tires bigger then 40s could put those axles to work.

There is no application. I didnt ask what you would put under ur heep, just which axle gives you the best bang for the buck. and if u dont know what that means, ill explain. if you were to go and buy these three axles stock, which one would be the cheapest and the strongest? From my expeirence the 14 bolt takes the cake. and as far as the 9" goes, unless u want to sink a grand or 2 into one, then you will have one relativly strong compared to a 14bolt

the best BANG for your buck would have to go to the Dana 35. Nothing sounds like a 35 letting go.

As far as the real question.

You'll lose about 1" of learance under the 14 bolt but the ring gear is over an inch bigger and the axle shafts are larger unless you find a 35 spline 60

i know you dident ask what we would put under our jeeps. so if theres no application are you just going to buy a 14 bolt and put it on the side of your garage.
put a grand or 2 into a 9" are you kidding me. again it goes back to what you are putting it in.

bigger tire= more stregnth needed from the axles. Figure out the clearances you want, and go from there. my thoughts:

biggest tire I'll run is a 37. dana 44's can hold up to them if some care is taken. my dana 30 was fine on 36's,

I'll take the clearance and higher risk of breakage over a dana 60 with the same size tire(this excludes high clearance 60's on the market, as some have more clearance than a dana 44)
