Ford front D60 and wheel compatability

Sorry for the vague/broad question. Can you run 15" wheels with a front Ford D60?

Yes, but if you running a 60 that usually means bigger tires which require bigger brakes. Safty first!

i'd probalby only be going from 36's to 38's. My d44/8.8 work great so i cant see needing much more in the way of braking.

Usually its accomplished by shaving the caliber, not reducing the rotor size.

True but you have to run low backspacing 15s.

I don't know if you can fit 15s on a stock ford d60 with those huge dual piston calipers, but I do know that you can get brackets off ebay and run 3/4t chevy rotors and calipers on a ford d60 and run 15s.

I have Ford Dual Piston calipers and run 15x10 3 inch backspacing with minimal grinding

If you don’t mind running a 2.5 backspacing 15's will fit with little or no grinding on the dual piston calipers

Steel beadlocks 3 inch backspacing and mine fits over 8 lug 92 F350 rotor's and calipers with a little grinding to the outside . When I say "little", I put the wheel on then spun it, heard the rubbing then pulled the wheel and broke out the grinder and shaved a little using a sanding disc to the metal backing of the brake pad that came outside the caliper. 1 min later bolted the wheel back on and spun. No rubbing! Went to the other side and did the same.

'79 Ford RC Dana 60 with 79 Ford dual piston calipers, 2.5"backspacing and very little grinding. Most of the grinding was on the pads and only used a soft wheel on the calipers. About 1/8" space between the wheel and the caliper. No problems thus far with anything getting trapped.

just out of curiousity and not trying to argue but why cant someone run 38s on a D44/8.8 combo?

cause i dont feel like swapping axle shafts and ujoints on the trails. no really i'm sure 90% of the time i could get away with it but i just dont want to take the chance. i'm running 36's on my d44/8.8 and it seems to be working so far.

If you dont want to grind you brakes you will need 2.75" back spacing.
