Stuck pinion

Axle is a Mod-20, stripped down to holding ONLY the pinion.

That's the problem....The Pinion.......doesn't want to come out.
I've soaked the contact area between the bearing and shaft for days. Have used an air hammer with a blunt point on the shaft.
My next thought is to take it to work and put it in a hydraulic press..........pretty sure this will move the pinion, the concern is that I may end up cracking the housing in the process.
Any ideas?
