Are you Christian?

Since I didn't feel like bogging down another thread, I thought I'd start anew.

What makes a person a Christian? Are you Christian?

Can you believe in the generic God and not be Christian?

Do you think Islam is like Christianity in regards to muslims etc... believing in Allah like Christians believe in God?

Can you be religious and not believe in a deity?

1. They believe in Jesus Christ. Yes I am. (btw... Christian = Christ follower)

2. Yes. This is basically an agnostic.

3. Similar only in the acknowledging a higher power, but very different in how one attains eternal life.

4. Only if "religious" mean moral. You can be a moral person and not believe in God, but good morals never got anyone to heaven.


BTW, tonight at 9pm, Barbara Wawa is doing a two hour special about what heaven is and how to get there. I don't expect it to be a christian message, but I will definitely be watching it tonight as the tail end of the Bible & Brew.

A Christian believes that all men sin. That Christ was the sacrificial lamb that died so that we may be forgiven from our sin and enter into heaven.

It is true, Christianity is not the only monotheistic religion (one God); there is muslim, and judeism, etc. However, a Christian knows that regardless of your actions on earth or whether you believe in a single God, the only way to be forgiven of you sin and enter heaven is through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Couldn't have said it simpler. Yes, I am a Christian. Not as knowledgable and strong as some friends I have on this site, but I am getting there.

Waaaaaaayyyy back in my youth, whilst trying to find answer to my problems that "Corporate Religion" wasn't solving, I looked into Buddhism, Hindu, Islam, Judaism...not to practice, but more out of curiosity. What I found is that ALL religions are founded on what is considered the Golden Rule, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

As I have grown older, I have come back to Christianity, but still don't attend church. The reasons are many, but mostly because organized religion is becoming politicized, and I don't feel the church should run the country or vice-versa.

I belive in Christ, but I think the temple needs a good clearing.

I am a christian, although I don't claim to be the most scholarly of them in regards to knowledge of the bible. I do have a connection with god and it's good to know that he's looking after me.
