rockcrusher diff cover leaking problem

I recently put a Rockcrusher diff cover on my dana 44 and it has been nothing but a headache. Ive had to redo the seal 3 times cause it kept blowing out the RTV and now it seams that the fill plug is leaking. Anyone else have this problem? Im gonna put my stock cover back on if I cant get this damn thing to quit leaking.

I have installed quite a few with no problems. Is the axle flange sanded flat? because that cover won't warp to conform to the axle flange.

bill, whats an axle flange?

you should probably check to make sure the cover and diff housing are flat, then make sure you retorque the bolts after you put it on and use oil resistant rtv instead of a gasket. another thing to check is to make sure your breather isnt plugged. on the filler hole use teflon tape or some other type of thread sealer.

Thanks for the input. The housing and cover both appeared to be flat. I tried the RTV that came with the cover and ended up using a permatex RTV thats oil resistant the last time I put it together. I was gonna use a lubelocker but Lowlock forgot to give it to me. Im gonna try the teflon tape on the fill hole and hopefully that will cure the rest of my problem.

Did it solve your problems Ed? I like to use Permatex "Right Stuff" or MOPAR gray RTV. I have to put teflon tape on the fill plugs in my Cranes or else they leak.

it almost sounds like your diff breather is clogged and forcing the fluid out

yeah the teflon tape either worked or I ran out of fluid
