1992 f150 idel problem

I have a 1992 f150 5.0 auto trans. It never seems to go out of high idel any suggestions. A freind said it maybe the cooling sencer?

how high is high? Do you have a tach? Generally the high idle right at start-up is calibrated for the cats to warm up (it is a predetermined amount of time), not the coolant sensor.

it is fuel injected the high idel is fine it is the lengh of time it is on it never goes off. it will be up to temp and still runs high no i do not have a tach. I can't find any thing in the book on the idel. is there a sencer that controls the idel or is there a adjustment to slow it down.

you should have a idel adjustment on the throttlebody

sounds like a vacuum leak, check the hoses at the back of the engine to see they are in tact. bad coolant sensors cause things like too much fuel when warm and rotten egg smell out the back. I have to believe its a leak.

i'll check for leaks thanks. if there is no leaks i try to adjust.

spray around with carb cleaner and the idle should change. between upper and lower intakes can leak also.
you cant adjust the idle at the throttle body, its computer controlled.
