dana 60 question

ive got a dana 60 semi floater from a 1 ton dodge cargo van. the width is a few inches off from the 35 in my xj, which i can make up with backspacing. so is this worth putting gears and lockers into to run 37's? i dont know spline count because its still in the van. my other option is one of my two 9inch's.

Pull a shaft and check the splines. The 60-2's were 35. Its worth taking a look...

What are you going to run for a front axle? Or do you plan on carrying two spare tires?

You could always order new shafts that are 5x4.5 and are 35 spline since you are gonna lock it. Alot of jeep owners run the semi-float so thay can run a 5 lug axle easier. My .02

if your going to be spending the money go with the 9" center sections and run 35 spline stuff in them, just as strong as a 60 but weighs quite a bit less. dont run a 44 senter section with 60 outers. youll kick yourself in the ass when your $3000 axle just shit a ring and pinion.... just do a 60 and be done with it.

on the trail it seems like a front 60 doesnt really get hung up all that much because you can steer around the stuff, the rear is always the one to get hung up. 60 front and a shaved 9" rear both 35 spline
