Stupid question

I have a really stupid question that i wanted to ask. My friend and i were talking and he has a 3/4 quarter ton suburban and he said that the difference in a 3/4 and a 1/2 ton are that the frame width. Is this true?

Springs, axle, and brakes are the difference.

The springs are why it can carry more weight. the brakes help stop with the added cargo weight.

by the way the frame isn't wider, its taller by almost two inches

new style or old style? like yetti said on the new style they are taller. But older versions they were the same.

i think the 3/4 tons also have larger trans coolers, perhaps an oil cooler

I it is possible that the frame would be of a larger channel. But I would have to see one first. On the GM Trucks there is a noticable difference in the frame of the 1500 and 2500.
