warn hubs....

ok so my old man asked me to ask...so if we need specifics it might take a while...but here it is...some time this past summer my old man rebuilt his locking hubs with Warn locking hub kits on his 85 CJ7, i guess just about every two months since then he has to replace the bolts that are holding the hub in(I have an xj, so i am not terribly familair with hubs), i asked the obvious question (lock-tite?) and he said he uses it every time..anyone else have this problem and what did you do to fix it...seems kinda odd that bolts would fall out of a locking hub....anyone else that has any ideas feel free to chime in?

Dana 30? I would make sure he is using lock-tite and grade 8 bolts. Also be sure to clean the mating surface of the lockout and the hub really well. If it's full of dirt and grime your bolts sheer is holding all the load, not their clamping force.

oh yea.d30...we decided to use high temp lock tite, instead of whatever type locktite he had used previously..so we'll see...hopefully it doesnt do it again...note the bolts arent shearing off, they are just up and backing out...and then he goes to use the hub and finds he is missing one or two of the bolts...we tried something new..hope it fixed it....thanks...

No what monkeyevil was trying to say. Is that when the hub is loose you are relying on the strength of the bolt (side load) instead of (clamp force load) Which is a hell of a lot less. Yes clean both mating surfaces very well. Use moderate amount of loc-ite. You may need to service it again. Also yuo can use a lock washer or star washer along with the loc-tite.
