I-75 Closed

Around noon and then again around 3. Just heard on the news. George W. is going to be in town. No one will be able to get by Flint Bishop airport.

475 will merge with 75N at Clio... it will not help you, only add a few miles to your journey if your coming from the west side of Flint.

675 will go around it, but I will take 13 through the ghetto and avoid all the traffic backups I forsee with this.

6-75 is in Saginaw not Flint..... if 75 is closed, take 4-75 through Flint; it will come out just North of Pierson Road and south of Vienna. its 70 MPH all the way through and shouldn't be to much of a problem better than sitting on 75. The other option is get off on Dort Hwy exit (next exit north of 108) and take that all the way till you get to Birch run, kinda long with lots of lights.

from 23, exit hill road, go west a few miles to linden road, then head north again to either miller, or corrunna, head back east, and pick up 75 again.

from 75, you could do much the same, but I don't recall which exit is valid off of 75, prolly a bit south of there at the dixie hghway exit near warwick hills and take baldwin road over to linden road north, rinse, lather and repeat.

From 75 north take 475

From 23 north do what Rye Bread said

I take both those routes all the time. As said 675 is no where near Flint.

From US-23 north, do not do what RyeBread said - especially if you are towing. Take US-23 north and get off at Hill Rd., take a right and go EAST towards Grand Blanc for a couple miles (no more then 5, more like 2). Get on I-475N (this is right where the GLFWDA conference is going to be, also), take I-475 north to I-75 and continue mission. A lot less lights to have to stop a trailer at and a lot more time at constant highway speeds.

Don't bother with getting off I-75 at Dixie Hwy and going through Grand Blanc to avoid the airport. I-475 is only 3 exits past Dixie on I-75 and Grand Blanc has a number of new stoplights on Dixie/Saginaw.

take I-75 north until you get to M-59.

Take M59 east until you hit 94.

head east on 94.

when you hit port huron, head west.

when you hit I-75, head north.

problem fixed.

I know this... but isn't it The 81 bridge thats coming down, that is WELL north of where 475 dumps onto I75... they were re-routing onto 675 to go around that area

last time I went that route (the one I mentioned) there were two stop signs before hitting Flint township. sure it's a bit of a clusterf*ck from that point on, but still beats the garbage of sitting idling on 75 waiting for the motorcade, or whatever is going on. I guess I also assumed that everyone would be trying to head east on hill road, if in fact they do block off 75, to pick up 475 off of hill...

as for the dixie side, I dont' get over to grand blanc too often, nor do I take that side up north, so I couldn't remember where it rejoined/split with 475 :o

I agree with some of what you say. People who know my opt for Hill Rd. east and it will generate traffic. However, Hill Rd. is 2 lanes each direction with a center turn lane, regulated by lights, and you're really not going far at all. In my head I count 4 traffic lights total on Hill from the US-23 off ramp to the I-475 on ramp.

If you go west to Linden, its single-lane roads with no turn lane and stop signs until you get to Bristol Rd - which leads to the airport. They'll probably block Bristol after the I-69 overpass, so this may be a cluster area with people coming back from u-turns + Genessee Valley Mall + normal Miller Rd. commercial traffic. Lots of lights on Miller, Linden, and Corunna, too. Sucky for trailers.

Dixie Hwy crosses I-75 in Grand Blanc and Davisburg. It doesn't cross I-475.

I have done security for el presidente and trust he will probably not take whatever route they have blocked off for security reasons they switch it up alot. I would just stay away all together.
