Solid front axle swap

ok i got a 92 suburban and it looks like im goin to have to get a new axel. im thinkin about throwing a D44 under it and a couple inches of lift. its still my DD so im not goin hugh with it. im only goin to run some 33s on it. ride quality isnt a concern to me. so i was wondering if anyone has any pics of cleanly done SFA swaps on full size chevys. im wanting to see some pics of the mounts. i want to make some mounts that i wont have to worry about. for springs i think ill use some 3/4 ton springs from the front of an older suburban. im not going to throw a D60 under it cause that will cost more than i payed for the truck.

whats wrong with your axle ?? why not just swap in a new center chunk for the IFS.. that would be even cheaper i would think

ok well it's your truck do what u want... anyway here's my suggestion.. make a front crossmember weld that to the frame or w/e mounth the front of the leafs to that.. then mount shackles to the frame .. then mount the axle hook up the brakes and hook up some HI Steer...

these were from a Blazer project with a dana 30 but im sure you could do something simlar..

Thats the way to do it. If you think that setup gives you too much lift, then you can do like a toyota and run the shackle mounts through the frame, to get them higher up so you have less lift.

Get a hole saw and a piece of tube, holesall thru the frame where you want the mount(make a jig to get it lined up and square) then weld in the tube into the frame to use as upper shackle mount.
