XJ LA Plans?

anyone know of a good write up for these. I want PLANS, look and copy type deal. I am stoopid in math and don't trust myself to make calculations. I have free college shop time this year to fab these the right way, not my typical hillbilly hack job. :tonka:

I don't really have any plans...I drew a couple rough sketches with measurements/etc...but have no idea where they are.

best I can do is just give you the only 3 pics I have with them installed. Needless to say, they worked awesome.

things I have since changed: When I built them, I didn't incorporate any adjustability into the Lowers...only the uppers so I could change pinion angle. I measured 80 times and when it was all done, axle was right where I wanted it (at that lift height..but after going higher, I wished I had made them adjustable)

2. I would use johnny joints or some sort of bushing other than the vulcanized oem bushings. the oem bushings are super soft and ride nicely, and, had that jeep lasted me longer, I probably would have had to replace them from wearing them out from twisting all the time.

I used 2" d.o.m. with 1/4 wall for the lowers, and 1.75" d.o.m. 1/4" wall for the uppers. I bought the bushing sleeves from rocklogic4x4.com, and built everything else. my bracets were welded, and they tied into my x-member, which i built from 2x6x3/16 rectangular.

hth

I paid 10.00 each for the bushing cradles from rocklogic4x4.com, but they can also be found at jks' webstie, RE's website, and many others.

I bought the 2" d.o.m. for around $ 7.00/ft, and I bought about 10' of it

The upper arms connect to the lowers with some of the universal bushing assemblies that can be found at polyperformance.com, etc...

I'd guess all things considered, def. less than 200 bux.

I'm currently in the process of making new suspension, back to 4 (5) link.
I'm once again using 2" dom lowers, 1.75 uppers, with 4 johnny joints at "frame" end, and oem bushings at lower end.

I prefer to have the suspension mounts as part of the vehicle, as opposed to the x-member. I have had a tendency to burn up lots of transmissions, and don't like having to remove suspension components for an otherwise 2-4 hour transmission swap.

I'm planning to use a lot of the pirate build ups, Timmay's and Vetteboy's, and making a clayton type crossmember, and sleeving the frame. I have the angle to sleeve it, and I'm also using 2x2 .25 Square tube, Johnny Joints (3) at the axle ends, and factory bushings at the top. Prices so far are ~$100 in joints, and probably ~$100ISH in steel. Mine will be a 3 link y-type setup.
