Daily driver help needed

I've had 3 automatic transmissions go out in different vehicle over the years...all either started to let you know its going by slipping for a while to taking a while to engage in reverse ect ect, and one let go w/a big bang. Yesterday while my wife was driving our Excursion she said it was like it went into neutral and she coasted to a stop. After we towed it home, tranny fluid was a little low but same result after topped off, like its in neutral, although the rpms do drop a bit when put in gear. Rear DS intact and not spinning. Anyone have any easy ideas or am I kidding myself and I need a new trans..

Ford auto trans are junk stock. I have replaced or had rebuilt every ford auto trans I have owned. Your EX sounded like mine when the TC went out in my diesel 250 with a E4OD in it. If I got the revs up it would try to move a little.

Try http://www.thedieselstop.com lots of trans posts on there from what I remember alot of people go with rebuilds through BTS (Brian's Truck Stop) doesn't sound legit but lots of people swear by them.

You tow anything heavy with the X? My 02' F250 is still shifting OK cross my fingers because I have 80K now. I hope to get about 150K before I have to rebuild mine.

Where are you located? I can refer you to a shop with a guy who does excellent trans work.

I also heard alot of good things about BTS. I talked with them awhile back when I had some trans issues. There Trans are a little pricey but soposed to be bullet proof. And if you can get your truck to them they will swap it out for free.( not much help if it dont drive though).

I'm in Fowlerville. I'm gonna tow it up to the dealership my brother works at, he gets a discount on the labor....I was getting ready to get rid of the truck too as soon as we closed on our new house..

BJHOUS- I do quite a bit of towing w/it....my camper, a diesel tractor, my jeeps after they have broke, back and forth to badlands and mounds, but nothing over the towing capacity...

How fast do you go? You tow in OD? Not that it is that much help to you now but I am curious for my own sake.
