Steering Question

Alright heres the situation.

Last March I had the 1-ton steering installed (no stabilizer put back on) and everything was great, well after a few months the steering box and pump went bad, which I read is expected from having larger than stock tires. I was getting bad wobble once I would get above 35mph and I tightened everything up which helped considerably, but still does it once I get around 50-55mph. I was wondering if I put a stabilizer back on if it will help the situation at all? I looked at a couple rock-ram setups and new steering boxes, but I'm not going to be able to do that work until after the holidays, and I would like to be safe if I took it on the highway for now.

Yah its long, but I figured I would give a good amount of detail the first time around, thanks in advance.

You have our 1-ton steering right?

A stabilizer is designed to absorb impacts on the tires from curbs, rocks, etc.... Because of this they absorb vibrations in the steering due to other problems.

IE, they are a bandaid and don't cure the real problem.

Wobble come from:
Poor alignment
Bad caster
Worn Hubs
Worn TRE's
Worn Steering box gear
Worn trackbar bushings
Worn link bushings
Loose stuff

Check that whole list to find your problem.
-Swap the tires from front to rear and see if that changes the issue.
-Measure the toe-in with a tape measure. Find a friend and meausre the difference in width from the front of the tire to the back of the tire. Your looking for 0" - .175" toe in on the front.

--Monkeyevil, yah it is your 1-ton, I had it installed last march along with the cage during the group buy. I had a feeling it was from the Gearbox. I did re-align it because it was off after wheeling it a few times and stuff coming loose, so I did an alignment and tightened everything up which helped a lot, tre's looked good, I tried moving the tire back and forth- fore and aft/ up and down, everything was tight. I still have to grease a few more things that looked pretty dry.
