long arm mounting for a TJ

I have been thinking of building my own long arms. Im not good enough welded to do the frame mounts and shit like that but do know people who could do it for me easily. Id just tack everything up on the arms and mounts on the frame. Mounting the lower control arms is not a problem, the front upper is not a problem because I would most likely run a setup similar to rubicon express because the ease of it. but for the rear Im not sure how to mount them. I was thinking of just angling a mount and just brace it a ton but was curious if anyone else had any ideas. All said and done ill probably end up with a claytons kit.


also what does everyone think about running 2x2 1/4" wall steel for lower control arms?

I have read that the 2x2 is harder to bend so it works good for lower control arms if you like the look but it weighs more. Check out Blue torch fab they are making some trick mounts for four links and saves the hassel of designing/making them.

thanks for the link. I do not plan on running hiems. most likely JJ and rubber bushings at the axle end. still will poke around some more.

Your uppers shoud be 70% the length of the lowers. For attaching the uppers you could bend a peice of DOM between the frame rails and attach the arms to that. If you wanted to go with a doulde tri set-up. Check out poly performance they have some nice mounts as does blue torch fab. As far as the 2x2 .250 wall it'll be fine.

Has anyone on here built a custom belly pan for the upper mounting points? I am just trying to get some ideas. Im thinking i may be easier and cheaper to just mod the factory belly pan.
