Weird creaking?

Just wondering if any other of you 94-01 Ram owners have had this issue. I get this creaking from the rear of my truck. I can't pinpoint it.

At first it sounded like just the bed flexing on the frame, but after getting underneath of it and yanking on stuff, it sounds more like it's coming from either the leafs themselves, or the blocks on the axle. If I push up on the frame, it'll make the sound once even if I continue to jounce it upwards from a resting position. If I then pull down, it'll make the sound once even if I continue to yank downwards from a resting position. That really makes me lean towards suspension.

Any input?

look at your shocks for any leaks or just sings of old age. Monroe suggests shocks be replaced every 50,000miles just for ride performance and handling.

Definately not the shocks, the shackles are a definite possibility.

grease the bushings they get creaky and clunky.. Also you can jack the truck up by the hitch to spread the leafs and spread anti seize in there.

Grease the bushings on the shackles? Didn't know they were greaseable.

Thanks B.

pull the bolt, put grease in hole, put back in. I had to do that to the blazer. They don't move much and rust in place. start to make noise when stuff gets in the way when they do have to move.

If you're going to go through the trouble of pulling the bolt anyway, consider buying a greaseable bolt to replace it with.

I couldn't pull the bolts completely out. I don't even know how the hell you would swap out leafs when the bolts back straight up into the frame. They would go about halfway out, shot some white lithium grease in there.

It was still creaking after that. Then with a floor jack and about 5 blocks of wood (it's a bit far off the ground), I jacked the rear up underneath the hitch. I then shot some anti-seize inbetween the leafs as best as I could. That seemed to take care of the big creaks.

Then I was hearing smaller creaks from the tailgate. Dropping the tailgate and jouncing the bed they went away. So I lubed up all the tailgate rubber isolator thingies, hinges, pins, etc.

Noise seems to be gone....fawkin' Dodge.
