Its well under the character limit, not even as tall as all my profile info on the left, and I made sure it was reasonably short enough horizontally to not stretch out other member's screens.

I was trying to justify what I did, because it wasn't actually "big". Other people like Nyxis and Leanz have signatures that take up more space than that banner, even though they are only formatted text. In fact, it wasn't much taller than yours at all. Apparently it didn't matter, because a few PM'd complaints (out of thousands of members) to CC got it taken down anyway.

I think Just a spouse should be in charge of smileys. Always seems to find one for every occasion (and usually quite good ones too).
