Replacing a head (SR5 V6)

I am looking at a 4 runner on EBAY that I am assuming spun a cam bearing as the owner says it needs a new head, something to do with the cam. Now I haven't researched much yet and this would be my first non-american rig. But I am wondering; Are these things dual over cam engines? Also should I get this truck what else should I be looking at? It seems to me that if it spun a bearing either it was run without oil or there was an oil flow issue. So should I be checking oil passages? Go ahead and replace the oil pump while I'm in there? Just curious.

Thanks,

Bryce

Never mind... 95, right?

Thats a 3.0 V6... its kind of a crappy motor.

Its a 12 valve SOHC. So, first, there are no cam bearings. The cam rides on the aluminum head itself, so if it got scored, its trash.

Second, Toyota 3.0s and early 3.4 have a lot of head problems. The like to blow head gaskets.

The engine is pretty weak for the weight of that truck. About 160 hp, but no where near the torque of a 4.0 Jeep.

If you buy it, I'd plan on getting a new head for sure. Never know what else is an issue with a motor like that..
