More stupid flat tow questions

Anyone ever flat tow with a LJ? I gotta go pick up my wife's new (new to us) LJ on the left side of the state, and since it already has a hitch I am thinking about driving my YJ out and pulling the YJ back behind it, instead of us driving back separate. That will be right at the upper end of the rated tow capacity of the LJ. YJ is already set up for flat tow. Looking for trouble or no?

Durango, 4.7l. I don't know the weight of a tandem axle trailer, but pretty sure the LJ plus a trailer is more than my wimpy 3500# hitch is rated. Besides, the Durango is a lease and I am way over miles at $0.20/mile. If the LJ-YJ tow is not practical or comfortably safe, we are better off just driving two vehicles back. Just makes for a long, boring ride home.
