I'm building mine now. I dropped everything off at the shop today to get the block, head, crank and rods machined. I'm expecting about 200HP/265f/lbs at the wheels when its done.

For added power, try to find an intake of a 99+, they are twice the volume and are good for almost 20 horse on a 4.7

If you have to build the small bolock then a stroker will be cheaper. If you are just buying one and dropping it in, then it may not be too bad. The stroker will probably give you more torque though.

Yep I am in the process of a stroker for Kim's jeep as well. It is a wise decision with no mods to be done to your rig to install, other than motor mods.

Stroke it Jay !!! i really dislike the idea of a small block in a jeep !
When u go to do become real good friend with somone in machining and have it bored for free !! Aw hell tear it down this weekend and ill machine it out in the next couple labs !

you don't have to bore it or really do any machining on it (unless it's damaged or out of tolerance of course). If you use the stock 4.2 crank throw and the 4.2 rods the piston actually sits lower in the cylinder (not much lower at all, but still lower). So bore wise it shouldn't be a problem. On the other hand, the older 4.2 crank might need some grinding and of course bearings. Aside from that, I think there is little machining that would need to be done.
