wheel spin sensor

I have 2005 Dodge 1500 Daytona edition i have been told that you can disconect the wheele anti spin sensor and achive more HP is this true and how/where do you disconect it at

how could that increase hp? the only thing it would do is act like a traction control, and apply the brakes when the wheels spin, but it wouldnt do anything to the hp of the engine.

Actually, on several cars that I've seen, its the opposite: If the front and rear wheel speeds don't match, it may retard upper end power.

It may have absolutely no effect at all.


I can see how it could be rumored, more than likely, its a twist on the true statement that faster 1/4 mile times can usually be achieved with the traction control turned off.

On a brake based traction control system, the brakes are modulated by the ABS valves to slow the wheelspin. There would either be a single speed sensor reading a large tone ring next to the ring gear if its a 3 channel system, or else an individual wheel speed sensor reading a tone ring at each axle/brake/hub, if its a 4 channel system.

I know when I was working on these, we did also send messages to the engine control for torque reduction.

He might be thinking of people disabling the Wheel Speed Sensor on the top of the rear differential. It might make the motor go to a default map. If you knew what the A/F ratio was going to be, I guess you could use to your advantage depending on what you were doing. It also causes the trans to go to default shift points (at higher rpm's).

I know for a fact that your mileage will suffer if that sensor is disabled.

i thought you were talkin gover all. yeah when the wheel slip is senced it will retard the engine, so if you turn it off, or unplug it, it will help there, but it wont change the max out put of the engine in anyway. thats what i was geting at.
