i would call this more of a spec sheet than a buyers guide...

You buy the winch that does what you want it to do. This is a pretty easy sheet to determine which one will do what you want.

Yes but for a Newer person still getting their feet wet that doesnt know what they need.. a more "buyers guide" set up would be nice...
I want a winch that wont fail and will pull me out if im stuck REALLY BAD... now how does that sheet tell me what one i need ?? i mean i knoww take the weight of your vehical x2 or 3 thats the lb rating.. but all those other factors..

But a new person doesn't even necessarily know that......I'm sure there are folk who think....my heep weighs 4000 lbs.....6000 lb winch should be plenty. While that may get the job done most of the time.....it's not the best choice.

could'nt someone run a line out to a snatch block and the back to there heep and the 6000lb winch just became 12000lbs. That would get the job done.

Like I said......it will probably work a lot of the time....but what happens when you're ass deep in muck and the nearest connect point is 80' away and you have 120' of cable?

By the way....I've been where I happened to think of 4wd just a second too late....barely stuck but by ourselves....nearest tree (or bundle of small trees actually) :) was 140' away. Good thing I had a little chain with me as well.

My .02, buy a mile marker, then you don't have to worry about it failing...

:miff: They all fail sometime or another. I'm not against the MM and I'm not 100% pro Warn....just stating a fact.

Everything can fail when you least expect it to. If properly maintained it will help ensure that it will be it the best working order to hopefully not fail when you need it. IMO a Ramsey industrial hydraulic planetary is the best winch out there. You can beat the snot out of them, with no problems. But 99% of the people on here don’t have a PTO on there jeep.

I watched a product vid made by mile marker , i was very surprised they straigth up admit there electiric winch was junk in the vid while at the same time showing there hyd winch to be the best .

Now if you dont know in towing the Ramsey hdy winch has long been king by 10 fold , but in an electric there not so great .

My question is this . WARN wich model is best protected against weather ?

I will replace my HS9500ti next fall , it has not been so good on the back of a 4x4 , weather gets in and makes for trouble .

I'd say the one that is enclosed in your bumper.

And where's the 16.5?

Well I will work on a new updated list shortly. I know we have some new stuff out now, and will include more models. Never noticed what I made the title of the thread, nor do I recall making it that lol.... anyways, I will make it a project for the week.
