Viper Spark Plugs for the Ram V10
Champion RC12LYC is a longer 'projected nose' plug used in the Viper V10. I installed these at 0.045" (but still with the factory wires) before my parts/tow run this weekend and was very happy with the performance. The truck seemed to just want to "go" above 2500 rpm with a loaded bed and an XJ in tow. The theory is that the longer nose brings the spark closer to the piston, simulating the effect of advanced timing. I did not think to look it up at the time, but next time I'm bored and have nothing better to do than lay all over my engine trying to reach the #9 plug, I'll see if a RC9LYC exists. The ones I bought are Champion's "base-model" Copper Plugs. I did not cross-reference them to see if a Platinum version was available because my experiment with the Viper wires failed and I would rather foul the Coppers if I ran into frequent missing on my trip.
If you don't feel like experimenting, DiRT and Dodgeram.org readers have expressed a lot of satisfaction with the Champion Truck Plugs and usually run them a little colder in a 9 range if you have pinging problems.
