I didnt get caught doing anything. And I have this bad habit of wearing my seatbelt. I learned the hard way last November how important they are.
My complaint is them sitting around keeping us safe from ourselves. I drove down mound road from M-59 to Maple and saw at least 10 cruisers and a few bikes. Are you telling me that violent crime is down, they caught all the criminals, and dont have any legitimate work to do? I'm sure the best way to use cops is to take money out of our pockets becasue we arent wearing a seatbelt. If the state doesnt have any money and some cities cant afford police than take the state cops that are doing seatbelt patrols and send them to these areas. Do the work that is REALLY needed. |

Prior to what most people believe, and what the media says, Violent Crime is not rampant. You bet your ass if any of those cops got a call for a domestic, or a fight, or a murder, or rape or anything like that they would be on it like fly's on shit. The fact of the matter is that those crimes are RARE. Take a Criminology class at a university somewhere and you will learn the actual stats. The way crime is portrayed by the media is very different than what actually happens.
Also, Your average Joe-schmo cop is not a detective. He does not do a lot of investigating after the arrests are made. |

Well if thet were really worried about our safety wouldnt they be better off driving in traffic instead of using traps?
When they drive down 696 the flow of traffic slows for longer stretchs than just sitting on an over pass. I'm sure none of these traps are to generate $$$$ for the state right? |

I'm all for the Click-it or Ticket campaign!!!
Officer are paid through grants... yes it is a money maker..... however... If the cops keep strict enforcement of this, our insurance premiums stay low. |

I bet you are all for them stopping people that are smoking in their car with children in it. Should they be stopping people on their cell phones also? If you can drive and talk without breaking any driving laws why should they stop you?
Thats right the state needs $$$. |

As far as someone breaking into my house. That doesnt happen because I picked a neighbor hood that was safe. There are neighborhoods that it does happen. Just because it isnt mine doesnt mean I should turn my head and pretend it doesnt happen.Mabey if they were patrolling instead they could prevent some of the crimes. I never said I knew where the criminals were but if they were in the neighborhoods more people would be a little safer. I'm guessing you would rather have someone stopped because they dont have their belts on than for a cop to possibly prevent a break in or worse. |

I dont anyways. The last jackass that pulled me over as I was having car problems asked if I needed help and then left before I could answer him. I bet he really cared. I'm sure he had a very important call to get to. Oh I forgot I watched him back up to his speed trap he was sitting before I saw him. He really cared alot that I was broke down on the side of a bust freeway. Last edited by C.K.; May 25th, 2006 at 09:50 PM. |

So you are saying they couldn't use some of the money that they are paying the cops that sit in speed/ seat belt traps and pay more to be on patrol at night? Makes much more sense to have more cops doing these traps during the day than out at night in a bigger force( which would make it safer for the cops also). I know the cops dont make the decision where or when they patrol or sit on the side of the road. That doesnt mean it is right though. Flame me all you want. I really dont care and you wont change my opinion. |

you're right. My complaint isn't with the guys doing the job. They do jobs most of us would never have the balls to do. I'm sorry I came across as having an issue with the officers themselves. |
