To those who have done it or know about it, how much would one expect to pay for a complete swap? (including radius arms)

is there any year or model difference?

particular options that were offered I should look for?

Case differences? I'm going to be running 4.56's in it.

And just to make sure, any year will have the 5x4.5 bolt circle correct?

as far as a price i have no idea.

im almost positive that all d35's from rangers and broncoII's were the same from 1990-1992. the explorer d35's may be the same but not positive

i know they offered 4:10 gears with limited slip. thats the best one they offered.

ive heard many ppl swap to 4:56's so it shouldn't be a problem

i know 100% that a d35 out of a 1990 broncoII has 5x4.5 bolt pattern.

I was looking at one earlier today from a '93 Eddie Bauer Explorer (hope it has the fancy LS).. I figure my truck is rigged enough as it is, I should be able to make it work.

D35 were offered in some late 90s b2's, in late 90's - 97 rangers, and in all gen 1 explorer. I used one out of a 92 explorer about 1.5" wider, all are a direct bolt in. All use 5 on 4.5. Just dont do what i did and get the shitty 3.27 gears, look for on with 4.56s. Cheers Mike

Actually it's allready in the truck, with some 4.56's on the carrier sitting on the workbench. Got mine out of a '95 Ranger, already had the manual hub conversion done

yeah, you got lucky....some years ford made a 35/28 hybrid axle.....it's the 35 housing with 28 internals, and basically sucks



on a side note, did you buy into the "must swap case" to use 4.56's? I went directly from 3.27's to 4.56's and they fit right over the stock case - lotsa people claim there is a case break at 3.73, but there's not

I talked to a member called "porc", he gave me a pretty decent deal on the gears and seemed to really know what he was talking about. he checked on the split carrier thing but could only find one part #, so we decided I probably didn't need it. I had also heard of people going from the ratios you mention with no problems. Mine were 3.73's stock. I used The Ranger Station's faq to make sure I didn't get one of the hybrids.

yeah, I got my gears from porc as well....best deal I could find hands down....and I also went with 4.56's....
