1993 Southwind Motorhome (P30, 454) quit charging

1993 Southwind (P30, 454) quit charging. I changed the Alternator (new re-man Bosch),I have cleaned all the connections. Is there anything on this motorhome, for a normal truck chassis, that I should be aware of? Any solonoids? I'm a little rusty on my charging systems, but the battery is not completely charged, will that matter. I am getting no dash light. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

AWK

the dash light is probably the problem. if the light doesn't come on while the key is one and the engine is off, the light bulb itself is the key. its the fuse for the circut and will prevent you from charging. if the brown wire doesn't see ground through a bulb then it won't charge.

The MH has a gauge also (maybe I should have mentioned that), so it must not use the light. I check and there is no buld in that socket. I check and the wire to the "I" terminal has 12 volts at the Gen. The Gen is a Bosch re-man from Murray's. I still have the old Gen, I might get that re-checked. Murray's checked it and it failed ( I did see the fail on the screen).

if you can just make a test lead with a bulb in line so you can clip it in the circut and see if it comes to life. I have ran into this before. there has to be an open in the circut somewhere

All tests lead back to a fail Alt. Took the Alt back to Murray's. They checked it and it failed. Of course it would be 5 days to get a new one. The old guy there was pretty resourceful. He check every alt that went to a 454 for that year. Found one with the same amp and connections, just had to clock the front to match the bolt holes. He check it and it passed. Installed it and everything is working fine. I reptty quick at changing that damn thing now.

I'll make sure I note this in my maintainace schdule for the part number does confuse me (or someone else) later on.

Hey, I got a buck 37 back!
